Emergency Situations

Sudden life-threatening conditions such as trauma or severe illness require prompt referral to emergency hospitals for intensive care unavailable in mobile settings. Although Abtulus Vet is not an emergency service, and we strongly encourage you to contact your nearest emergency veterinary centre immediately if your pet is in a critical or life-threatening situation, certain emergencies may not be obvious to untrained eyes. For example, conditions like GDV (Gastric Dilation and Volvulus) can deteriorate rapidly and need urgent treatment. In these cases, if we assess that your pet is in an emergency state during a home visit, we will assist you by contacting your preferred emergency hospital directly, sharing our clinical findings with them. This helps ensure your pet receives swift and seamless care on arrival, saving valuable time when every minute counts.

Although we coordinate closely with nearby emergency veterinary hospitals when emergency care is needed, please note that transporting your pet to the emergency centre is best arranged by the pet owner. Currently, there are no regulated infrastructures for a veterinary ambulance service in Perth, and due to the legal limitations, we are unable to provide transport. Rest assured, our team will support you by liaising directly with the emergency hospital and providing all necessary clinical details (as far as we could find out during our visit) to ensure your pet’s care begins upon arrival.
