At X Vet, we offer two types of mobile consult appointments to suit your schedule and your pet’s needs:

Fixed Time Visit (Tighter Time Window)

Need a consultation at a specific time? You can request a Fixed Time Visit. This booking type is ideal if you have time constraints (e.g. work, school pick-up, or time-sensitive pet needs). We prioritise scheduling within a tighter window to minimise waiting.

While we strive to be punctual, please understand that due to the mobile nature of our work—travel logistics, traffic, weather, and occasionally extended time with critically unwell animals—a fixed-time visit may still involve a ±5 to a maximum of 30 minute buffer around the scheduled time.

A surcharge applies to fixed-time bookings. This compensates for the additional logistical work involved, such as:

  • Decreased route efficiency
  • Higher chance of time gaps between visits
  • Reduced ability to group nearby cases
  • Increased risk of other urgent cases being turned away or reffered to protect your time window

Flexible Time Visit (Wider Window, Lower Fee)

If you don’t need an exact time, you can book a Flexible Time Visit, which allows us to schedule your appointment within a broader time range. This improves route planning and lets us keep your fee lower.

Available time windows:

  • Morning: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Afternoon: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Evening (After-Hours): 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

After-Hours, Weekends, and Public Holidays Bookings

Both Fixed and Flexible visit types are available during after-hours (after 6:00 PM), weekends, and public holidays. These appointments attract higher base fees and are subject to availability.

Public holidays are set according to the website of the Government of Western Australia.

How a Mobile Visit Works

When you book, you’ll be asked to enter your pet’s details and a brief description of the issue. Once we receive your request, we’ll review it based on urgency and logistics, and get back to you within 5–15 minutes to confirm whether we can attend in a timely manner.

On the day of your appointment, we’ll send you an ETA update about 15 to 60 minutes before the visit, so you know when to expect us.

🏡 What to Expect During a Visit

We’ll arrive at your home with everything we need to carry out a thorough consultation—whether it’s a routine check-up, diagnostic procedure, or treatment.

  • Almost all common medications can be dispensed at your doorstep during the visit.
  • In rare cases where we don’t stock a specific medication or a large quantity is needed, we’ll work with you to find the best solution. This may include temporarily using a similar-acting medication, dispensing a smaller amount on the spot and supplying the rest later by post, arranging delivery via courier, or issuing a prescription for you to collect the medication from a local pharmacy.
  • If you prefer to source medications or diagnostic services yourself, we’re happy to provide a prescription or referral so you can access them through your preferred pharmacy or diagnostic centre.
  • If your pet requires diagnostics that need to be performed in a laboratory, we can arrange that too. We’ll collect the sample during the visit and submit it to one of our trusted partner labs in Australia—such as IDEXX Laboratories, Vetnostics, and others.
  • Most test results are returned within 24 hours or less. Once received, we’ll interpret the results and contact you with a clear, plain-English explanation and discuss any next steps if needed.
  • You can expect clear communication, no rush, full consent before any treatment or medication, and written follow-up notes to keep everything transparent.
